About this Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how Hive Afriq Management (“HAM”, “we”, “us” or “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on this Website, what they do, how long they last and how you can control them.
It should be read with our Privacy Policy. Where a technology processes personal data, the Privacy Policy explains the broader purposes, legal bases, recipients, transfers, retention and rights.
What cookies and similar technologies are
A cookie is a small text file a website stores on a computer, phone or other device. It can remember information about a visit, such as a consent choice or session identifier. First-party cookies are set by the site you visit; third-party cookies are set by another service used on that site.
Session cookies expire when the browser session ends. Persistent cookies remain until their stated expiry or until deleted. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels, tags, software development kits and device identifiers. We apply the same consent principles when they perform a comparable tracking or storage function.
Cookie categories
- Strictly necessary: required for a service you request, security, network operation or recording your privacy choice. They cannot be switched off through our widget.
- Analytics: help measure visits and interactions so content and performance can be improved. They require consent where applicable.
- Personalisation: remember optional preferences or tailor an experience. They require consent unless strictly necessary for a feature you requested.
- Marketing: measure campaigns, build audiences or support advertising. They require consent.
Optional categories are off by default. Continuing to browse, silence, inactivity or closing the banner is not treated as consent.
Current cookie inventory
At the effective date, this Website sets one first-party strictly necessary cookie after you make a cookie choice. No analytics, personalisation or advertising provider is currently active.
| Name | Provider | Category | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ham_cookie_consent | Hive Afriq Management | Strictly necessary | Stores a compact record of whether analytics, personalisation and marketing categories were accepted or rejected so the banner is not repeatedly shown. | 180 days |
The same preference record is stored in first-party browser local storage under the key ham_cookie_consent. It contains the category choices, policy version and selection timestamp and remains until cleared or replaced. Local storage is treated as a similar technology and is used only to make consent management reliable.
Our hosting or security provider may introduce an operational cookie where necessary for load balancing, abuse prevention or service integrity. Before public deployment, the production environment should be scanned and this inventory updated with the exact provider, cookie name, purpose and duration.
How consent works
On a first visit, the consent banner offers three equally accessible routes: accept all optional categories, reject all optional categories, or customise each category. Optional switches are off unless you turn them on.
When you save a choice, we record it for up to 180 days. We may ask again sooner if the Policy changes materially, new purposes or providers are introduced, the consent record cannot be read, or law requires renewal.
Any future optional script must check the relevant consent signal before loading. The Website publishes the current state through document data attributes and a ham:consent-changed browser event so integrations can be gated correctly.
Change or withdraw your choice
Select “Cookie settings” in the Website footer at any time. You can withdraw consent, reject all, accept all or save a different combination. Withdrawing consent is as easy as granting it and does not reduce access to the core Website.
Withdrawal prevents future optional storage or access. It does not make earlier consent-based processing unlawful. When optional services are added, we will also remove or expire their cookies where technically possible after withdrawal; you can delete remaining items through browser settings.
Browser and device controls
Most browsers allow you to view, block and delete cookies or clear site storage. Blocking all cookies may prevent the consent preference from being remembered, causing the banner to reappear, but the public Website should otherwise remain available.
Controls vary by browser and device. Use the current help pages for your browser. “Do Not Track” and Global Privacy Control signals are not interpreted consistently across all laws or services; where technically feasible and legally applicable, we will treat a recognised opt-out signal as a request to disable non-essential tracking.
Third-party content and future services
Links to third-party websites do not place their cookies through our Website, but the destination site may use its own technologies under its own policy. If we later embed video, maps, social content, analytics, scheduling or advertising services, they will be assessed and added to this inventory before activation.
Where consent is required, embedded or third-party content will not load until the relevant choice is made. We will identify the provider, purpose, data involved, retention and any international-transfer implications.
Legal framework
Strictly necessary technologies are used to provide a feature requested by the visitor, maintain the service or remember the privacy choice. Depending on the jurisdiction, these may be exempt from cookie consent, while related personal-data processing remains subject to applicable data-protection law.
Non-essential cookies and similar technologies are used only after valid consent where required by the GDPR, ePrivacy rules, Ghanaian law or other applicable requirements. Consent must be freely given, specific, informed, unambiguous and expressed through a positive action.
Updates and contact
We review this inventory when the Website, hosting or integrations change. The “Last updated” date identifies the latest version. Material changes may trigger a renewed consent request.
Questions about cookies or this Policy may be sent to hello@hiveafriq.com. Privacy rights and complaints are addressed in our Privacy Policy.
